Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Cove Infant School we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our children and staff, and believe in a whole school approach to achieve this.

We are delighted to be a part of the local NHS led Mental Health Support Team (MHST). MHST's were implemented by the NHS following the 2017 Government Green Paper for Transforming children and young people’s mental health, which detailed proposals for expanding access to mental health care for children and young people, in particular providing additional support through schools and colleges and reducing waiting times for Mental Health treatment.

MHSTs have three core functions:

  • to deliver evidence-based interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health issues;
  • support the senior mental health lead in each school or college to introduce or develop their whole school or college approach and;
  • give timely advise to school and college staff, and liaise with external specialist service to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.

In school, our Senior Mental Health Lead is Mrs Chloe Jarvis (SENDCo).  She is closely supported by Mrs Natasha Vass (Headteacher).

Our Mental Health Support Team comprises of two Education Mental Health Practitioners, Hannah Frogley and Tracey Banks, and one High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), Natalie Fordom.

More information can be found in the MHST Newsletters below, as well as the YouTube video link which further explains their roles:
