Project Updates
DISCOVER NEW ZEALAND
Cove Airlines took flight and headed for the beautiful North Island of New Zealand. The passengers became aware of the continents they passed over on route to their final destination.
The children are going to explore the island and admire the beautiful landscapes of Mount Ruapehu, Rotorua and Lake Taupo. They will discover an active volcano and bubbling mud springs. These tourist spots are described in detail and persuasive guides are created to provide visitors to the area with a whole host of information.
The Maori people settled in New Zealand and used the native ferns to inspire a symbol of strength. The children will use oil pastels to create their own Koru designs. A visitor’s centre will be carefully planned, with the children suggesting key information that needs to be displayed, allowing visitors to learn about the location, landmarks and culture.
Children will then share their learning with their grown ups as a New Zealand Visitor's centre will be created to highlight the famous landmarks and the culture of the country.
Library
The children chose books from the School Library to take home. They were very excited to scan out their own books and find their library card and they can't wait to do it again next week!
Please note: Year 2 will change their Library books every THURSDAY, so please ensure your child has their book with them on this day ready to return. Thank you.
Discovery Centre
This week Dragonfly Class had fun using the Discovery Centre and thinking about what we might like to be when we grow up!
