Year 1 

In Year 1 we begin the year exploring the concepts of Thanking and Sharing through the study of the Christian Harvest festival. We introduce the golden thread concept of Community and and discuss how we can make a positive contribution to our community by donating to a local Food Bank Appeal.

The children study the significance of Journeys within the Nativity story and the role of Angels in faith. They explore the concept of sharing good news and bringing hope to the world by writing their own wishes for the future.

In the Spring term we introduce the children to the Jewish faith by looking at the concept of Specialness and the special Shabbat meal.

As we near Easter our focus becomes Palm Sunday and we explore the idea of Welcoming.  We discuss how we welcome people in our lives, from school to extra-curricular clubs to home life, and relate these ideas to how Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the start of the Christian Holy Week.
