The children entered the classroom on their second day of school to find a mysterious monster on the wall. The monster looked very confused and he was very scruffy, with colours scattered all over him! The children spent time discussing different feelings and emotions, and how to understand these in ourselves and also in other people. They eventually helped the colour monster understand his feelings by sorting them into happiness, sadness, fear, calmness, anger and love. Finally the children wrote a poem about different colours and the feelings that these emote. The children used their knowledge of primary and secondary colours to discover new ‘tertiary’ colours and create a Kandinsky style painting.
Take a look at our tertiary colour mixing and our marble paintings!
We were inspired by Kandinsky's style of painting and created our own Kandinsky circles.
