Putting Farnborough on the Map!
A strange map appeared on the classroom window. It was soggy and torn and some places on the map had disappeared. Questions arose about maps and why they are important. The children went out and explored the local area, creating a range of maps to inform others of the amenities in their local area. They learnt about Cove Brook as the town's physical feature. The children began to understand the importance of aviation for the town and learnt about the location of the airport. They looked at how Farnborough has changed over time. We learnt lots of information so we could explain to visitors at our visitor centre just how special our town is!
We also looked at the countries in the United Kingdom and used an Atlas to see where these countries were.
